March 2021

This month is all about the “work”– the arduous and continuing “work” to make this world equitable and just. Allyship is work. Anti-racism is work. Debiasing education is work.

This month, both shirts feature a “Brick” Triblend colorway and a premium-feeling 3D print. The “Brick” colorway represents the hard and strenuous work that we all should be doing. Bricklaying is hard. But when the work is done, what is left is something strong, sturdy and resilient that should remain for many years to come.

"UNIFIED"

“Unified” this month features the statement “Woke Is Work”. I wrote about this in an Instagram post dated JULY 13, 2020:

...one can be #antiracist and problematic, including #misogyny and #antiblack, in the same conversation, speech and lifetime. We have to WORK everyday with every thought and utterance to be anti-racist. #whitesupremacy is so pervasive and insidious, it can affect the best of us and make us complicit in the very things we are trying to abolish. We have to take our ego out of it in order to be able to stand outside of ourselves and view ourselves from an objective and critical perspective. It’s work. It’s hard. It’s often painful. It’s embarrassing. Shameful even. But on the other side of the work, is the best of us that realizes that WE ARE ALL OF US. Part of the one - The all - The everything.

But to get there we have to to do the WORK and not just the WORDS

"EPISODES"

“Episodes” features a simple “Do The Work”. I used to always say, “It is not the responsibility of the oppressed to educate their oppressor on the ways of their oppression”. It is extremely difficult to hold a book in one hand and turn pages, while fighting for our liberation and defending ourselves with the other. To that we say, “Do The Work”.
